At ConnectedGroup we believe that culture comes first. We expect high performance from all of our people but, key to our ongoing success, is maintaining a supportive environment, where respect for colleagues and a sense of enjoyment are paramount.
We work to the values of being Candid, Creative and Connected, both internally and externally in order to meet our mission statement of "being remembered for exceeding expectations". This feeds into our wider purpose of ‘using recruitment as a lever to change lives’.
Here are the key components that make ConnectedGroup a great place to work:
The key elements of our incentive scheme operate as follows:
A market leading, transparent personal bonus scheme based on directly attributed fee revenue, calculated quarterly based on contracts signed and paid monthly based on collections. There are no penalties for late client payments.
Additional quarterly bonuses paid based on achieving grade based target thresholds for Associate Consultants through to Principle Consultants.
Quarterly events for both individual high achievers and overall company performance.
Annual cash or incentive trip reward based on achieving an annual grade based target (as opposed to a single target for all levels).
Management override for those with leadership responsibilities ensuring financial reward for team performance.
Decreasing % of salary cost allocation to personal bonus threshold as leadership responsibilities increase.
Generous internal referral scheme for introducing talent to the business.
Access to a loyalty platform offering discounts on a range of products and services.
We have a track record of experienced recruiters joining us from both larger and smaller firms who earn more (due to an exceptional scheme) and generate record levels of revenue (due to the platform and culture). In 2018 we surveyed our staff who joined us with at least 1 year of previous industry experience and who had worked for us for at least 12 months - over 80% of them had both billed more (on average over 40% more) and earned more (on average more than a 60% increase in net earnings).
ConnectedGroup operates with the heart of a family business and the mindset of a corporate. We are always aspiring to provide the right tools that ensure our teams have what they need to deliver the best possible service to our clients and candidates. These include:
A full LinkedIn Recruiter license on every billing desk with access to job slots and InMails.
A corporate profile as one of the most followed recruitment firms on LinkedIn in Hong Kong and one of the most socially engaged in the Asia region.
The operation of a recruitment system that is integrated with Outlook and with full mobile access.
Remote e-mail access to all staff via mobile and web.
Multi-platform job posting through a single portal.
A video interviewing platform (via CGConnect) with both real-time and automated recording functions to enable video presentations to the client, alongside the candidate profile that integrates with MS Teams.
Full Microsoft 365 driven environment.
A training framework that develops staff through a combination of classroom, at desk and online resources.
Corporate iPhones for Managers and above.
A portfolio of innovative and attractive client agreements that can be utilised to foster long term partnerships.
We have a defined approach to leadership as a skill in its own right. Our leaders are all highly knowledgeable in their own industry sector or function as well as in recruitment and executive search, so they are ideally placed to help both clients and candidates achieve their objectives.
Our leaders are the front line of our business as direct revenue generators and not hidden away in offices or behind spreadsheets, so they intrinsically know what makes great recruiters and how to develop them. .
We have always believed that a person's revenue record is only half of what makes a good manager. We look for leaders who are balanced, supportive and inspiring and those who walk our values consistently.
In addition to the framework outlined here that feeds into our culture, we endeavour to support our staff with other policies and practices that make ConnectedGroup a great place to work:
Clear industry/functional ownership guidelines combined with rewards for referrals create a strong framework and positive attitude towards cross-selling.
A relaxed 'client appropriate' dress code.
Monthly open discussion forums with our MD and all non-management staff.
Friday office-wide roundups for information sharing and results updates and a 4pm finish time to close the week.
A consultative and flexible approach to supporting staff with health issues.
Transitionary and flexible schemes for mothers returning to work after maternity leave.
Most importantly, we are always listening and open to new ideas.
You can learn more about our social purpose here but what does that mean to our employees? Whether it is our sponsorship of under-privileged children, the pro-bono/low-bono recruitment work we do for Hong Kong charities , our support of The Fair Employment Foundation or our role as a connector of knowledge and resources in the NGO world, our goal is to give our employees confidence. Confidence that every day that they come to work, every hour they invest and every dollar they earn , the business is providing value beyond just making profits. We don't expect our staff to invest their personal time in these initiatives but, of course they are welcome to and we will support them in championing their own causes wherever possible.
