Merchandiser (Home textile)

Our client is an US buying office, who is looking for a Merchandiser to join their well-established and rapidly growing team in Hong Kong.

Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct market research including participate in trade shows to obtain information on supplier's product and opportunities, price and market trends.
• Identify and evaluate new opportunities and potential products, related competition and development of new product resources.
• Liaise with buyers on found opportunities for purchasing possibility
• Coordinate with manufacturers for buying trips, organize the trip and itinerary. Accompany buyers throughout the selection and negotiation process during the trip.
• Place order and provide appropriate instructions related to manufacturing, preparation and shipment during follow up stage. Timely report potential problems with impact on shipment timetables to buyers and management.
• Perform sample approval and send to buyer and PD team
• Execute quality control in terms of product quality, packaging and prepare report to inform suppliers and customers before shipment release and provide solutions.
• Ensure potential new supplier can meet Company's standards in terms of Social Compliance and Cargo Security Programs

Job Requirements:

• Degree holder with minimum 2 years of related experience, preferably from sourcing/ buying office
• Hardgoods/ Home textile experience in U.S., Canada, or UK market
• Good command of written and verbal English and Mandarin
• Hands-on experience in manufacturing, materials, production process, U.S. customs
• Excellent interpersonal skills with proven record of building rapport
• Well-organized, problem-solver and good time management skills
• Independent with a passion in products and knowledgeable in latest market trends
• Willing and able to frequently travel to explore new opportunities
